The primary aim of the Melik Society, in collaboration with the government of Sudan, is to restore the Victorian gunboat Melik, whose remains are beached in Khartoum, so that, as a Sudanese national antiquity, it can benefit the country’s tourist industry. The magazine Gunboat reflects the Society’s wish to encourage general interest in Anglo-Sudanese history.
